Safety Valve | Disillusionment with candidates: choosing the lesser evil | Safety Valve: Letters from readers | wenatcheeworld.com
Way back in July, when President Biden dropped out of the running for this year’s upcoming presidential election, most Democrats, many independents and a few others let out a huge sigh of relief. With the nomination of Kamala Harris, we figured we might actually have someone worthy of our vote.
But now that the honeymoon’s over, we’ve got a candidate who recently stated she couldn’t really think of a thing that she’d change from the Biden administration policy. Besides all the debatable goodies she wants to hand out (e.g., up to $ 25K for first-time home buyers, new child tax credits with presumably no limits on the number of children per woman this would benefit, etc.) with little mention of how these would be paid for, what I find most disturbing is her apparent continued support for our current policy re the Israel-Gaza-Palestine situation, that is, claiming to call for a cease-fire and peace but with no mention of discontinuing the provision of military weapons to Israel with virtually no strings attached.
